Built in 1899 in London,transported in kitset form to Wanganui New Zealand.For almost 50 years the Waimarie plied the Wanganui river.In 1949 she was eventually taken out of service.In1952 she sank at her berth at wanganui.In 1993 she was salvaged.On January 2000 she was recommissioned for her new life on the wanganui river.She is New Zealand only authentic paddle steamer .From2000 to 2001 the Waimarie carried over 25,ooo passengers.She is 80 tons gross, over 100 foot waterline length,travels at 10'5 knots can carry 150 passengers.
